Running on Empty
I did it…I ran again. 3 days in a row, count’em, 3!
2.44-mi and 343-kcal
Feb total: 10.44
2012 total: 23.99
Run, Forest, Run
Got in another 2.75-mi today. Stupid Runtastic Pro clocked me a 1/2-mi at just past the 1/4-mi mark, so it was acting weird again.
Total miles for February: 8.0
Total miles for 2012: 21.55
Running, running, running.
I did it! Really. I ran today. 2.75-mi. Of course it’s interval running, are you crazy? Since Sam and I are supposed to be doing the official Couch to 10K program together, I had to find another interval program to use on our off days – which have been every day since January 7. (Just saying)
I downloaded some other Couch to 10k program that only has 2-min walks between the run intervals. Let me tell ya, that’s not piece of cake, especially when you’ve not been running much. Today was just about exhausting. 38-minutes of run 2-min, walk 2-min with a 5-min warm up and cool down on the ends.
I had set myself a goal of running 500-mi this year. That’s about 42-miles per month. Since I only ran 13.55-mi in January and I’ve only run 5.25-mi this month, well, suffice it to say, I’m a bit behind. The awesome thing about running, though, is that you can always start over. Haven’t run for 6 months? Take it slow and get out there and go! I was looking through an event catalog for the Bentonville area today and saw that there are multiple 5ks coming up before summer hits, plus at least one 10k. Hopefully, we’ll get our motivation up and running in time to finish the program before that 10k.
On top of all that, if I run enough miles, I’ll be able to justify buying some new running skirts and the newest from my favorite company, RunningSkirts.com, are coming out any day now! The few I’ve already seen are awesome.
Go get your run on!
Total miles run this year to date: 18.8 (i.e., sucktacular)
Run, run, run, run away
I admit it. I’m a wimp. For the last two years, if the temperature started with a 3 (anything 30 degrees F and above), I’d go out and run. Light drizzle? No problem. Snow? No worries. If it was 28F and promising to warm up to 30F or more before the end of my run? Yep, I’d go out. That was the last two years.
This year? No, not so much. Here was the weather from my iphone when I woke up:
See that? It’s above 30F. So what if it’s not sunny…right? Yeah. Right. I looked at the forecast for the rest of the day:
And thought, Ick. I don’t want to go out in that. So, there it is. I’m a wimp and my running program has totally fizzled out this year. Not only that, but it seems that exercising only once per week (so far) has helped me lose the 1-lb per week that I had as a goal, for the most part. How is that even happening?!? I mean, I ran 4-6 days per week last year and managed to lose, for the entire year, only 5 or 6 pounds. What is the deal?
So, here I sit at my desk, in my from-size-14-to-size-6 jeans-wishing-I-was-in-size-4-jeans, whining about being unmotivated. Not only that, but I’m going to go sit in front of the tv in a minute rather than sew or work. I’m pathetic.
